Data Destruction
When choosing a partner to help you with data destruction, IT asset disposal and complying with the WEEE Directive, it is important to consider several factors and the starting point should be an assessment of the status of their business. This includes basic financial checks, verification of claims for certifications, levels of insurance and confirmation and verifying of published references.
For a data destruction and IT asset disposal, it is important to look at ICO guidelines and ICO registration , compliance with BS EN15713 and companies who can demonstrate a track record in the field. The ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is an information security standard that was published on the 25th September 2013. It is a specification for an information security management system (ISMS) and should be considered as a must have when choosing a partner, as it underpins everything from a data security point of view.
ISO 9001 is the world’s most widely recognised Quality Management System (QMS). It helps organisations to meet the expectations and needs of their customers, among other benefits. An ISO 9001 quality management system helps to continually monitor and manage quality across all operations, and outlines ways to achieve, as well as benchmark, consistent performance and service.
When choosing a disposal partner to assist with the WEEE regulations it is important to choose a company who can actually treat the waste, Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) and not a company who works under exemptions. If you need to provide evidence of WEEE, then you need to partner with an Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF). Also, Waste Transfer Licences allow for both waste and hazardous waste movements with a WAMITAB Officer (Waste Management Industry Training Advisory Board) on site, who is known as a COTC (Certficate of Technical Competence)
This should also be underpinned by the ISO 14001, which is an internationally accepted standard and an effective environmental management system that manages environmental responsibilities and impacts. Concept Management is totally compliant with this market space, appearing on several frameworks including Crown Commercial Services Framework and NHS CPC.
